As this is a public site, I'll keep the story to a PG rating.
For the wedding night, we had booked a room at the King Eddie. After sorting out our stuff at McLean house, we took a taxi to the King Eddie, arriving shortly before 2am. Would you know it, a large group extended their stay and as a consequence, the room that we had booked was apparently 'no longer available'. The hotel's plan was to bump us to the Royal York hotel. They were really nice about it, even offering to pay for the taxi that would take us to the Royal York. At 2am in the morning, both Sandra and I were really tired and in no mood for this nonsense. We made a bit of a stink stink about it, and after we mentioned that it was our wedding night (with wedding dress in hand to prove it!) they reversed the charges and our stay at the Royal York was free! That's not the end of it - once we got to the Royal York, they only had standard rooms available, but we mentioned that our original booking at the King Eddie was for a executive suite. A brief call later, they checked us into a room on the Fairmont Gold floor! It was nice, with an adjacent parlor and complimentary breakfast to boot.
